For more than five decades, homeless and hurting neighbors have turned to York Rescue Mission to meet their desperate needs. And they’ll continue to do so for decades to come.
In many ways, LifePath Christian Ministries is still the same place, providing rescue to those who need it most. But we’re about so much more than just rescue.
Most will stay in shelters or transitional housing, but about 50 will sleep on the streets.
Jade was almost one of them. Single and pregnant, she suddenly found herself homeless when she came home from work and found all her belongings on the sidewalk: Her roommate had kicked her out with no warning, and no explanation.
“IT WAS THE WORST FEELING EVER. I FELT HELPLESS. I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO OR HOW I WAS GOING TO DO IT. AND ON TOP OF IT ALL, I WAS FIVE MONTHS PREGNANT.”
Jade’s words could apply to any of us. People end up homeless for all kinds of reasons. Job loss. An eviction. A medical crisis. An addiction. Mental health issues. Broken families.
